In a bombshell announcement for the advertising industry, Lori Senecal the CEO of CP&B (Crispin, Porter + Bogusky) Global announced she is leaving that agency at the end of 2017.
Senecal began working in that role for CP&B of MDC Partners in March 2015. Prior to that, she served as CEO of MDC Partners Network, and she continued in that role even after taking on CP&B Global as well.
Chuck Porter, CP&B Global’s co-founder and chairman, credits Senecal as creating something new in the industry. She turned CP&B Global into a global agency with the flexibility of a startup.
In October 2015, Senecal made her mark on the new agency by wooing the American Airline account away from TM Advertising, the agency American had used for twenty-five years. She has also won the Hershey and Pay Pal accounts.
Porter said that he and Senecal were developing the next-generation leadership team for CP&B. They’re preparing to make a smooth transition when Senecal leaves at the end of the year.
Part of the transition was promoting Danielle Aldrich to the office of president of CP&B West, which includes both the agency’s Boulder and Los Angeles offices. Aldrich has previous been a managing director of the Boulder office. She also received credit for helping Senecal to land both the American Airlines and Hershey accounts.
CP&B has a total of ten offices now around the world. Senecal says they’re all led by entrepreneurs passionate about building CP&B. She praised Aldrich as someone who uncovers the touchest problems, and then solves them in the boldest, most inventive ways possible.
According to Adweek, in 2016, Advertising Age recognized CP&B as “Creativity Innovators of the Year.” It also named Senecal as one of the four advertising executives to watch out for in 2016.
At the Cannes Lions Festival, she won the Titanium Grand Prix for her work for Domino’s. That’s the highest award for inventive ideas that drives business performance. She has held other leadership positions. She was formerly Global Executive Chairman, Chairman, President and CEO of Kirshenbum, Bond, Senecal and Partners. She grew that agency from 250 employees to over 900. Crain’s recognized it as one of the best places to work in New York City.
